Dress for success

After the success of the 1st Dress for Success clothing drive at the 2011 SOGC Annual Clinical Meeting, the SOGC Junior Member Committee is asking ACM delegates to open their closets again for this year’s meeting!

This annual initiative, in which gently used clothes are donated to either a local organization, shelter or outreach program dedicated to providing health and social support to pregnant women and women of the local community, is part of the framework of “Essential Physician Competencies” within the CanMEDS Roles. The donations will remain in the city where the SOGC’s Annual Clinical Meeting takes place in order to benefit local women in need.

Collection bins will be on-site at the SOGC ACM for you to drop off your gently used items of clothing.

HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BRING A GENTLY USED ITEM OF CLOTHING TO THE SOGC ANNUAL COMMITTEE MEETING!

Women’s clothing of the following categories is suggested:

  • Business/career attire
  • Everyday wear (seasonal only please)
  • Maternity clothes
  • Plus-size (size 14 and larger)
  • Accessories (work-place suitable shoes, purses, scarves and belts)
  • New hosiery and undergarments (tags on, still in packaging)

The Canadian Foundation for women’s Health:
your Foundation

Founded by the SOGC, the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health is a charitable organization which advances the health of women in Canada and around the world through supporting research, education and advocacy in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Welcome to Ottawa! As you enjoy your time in Canada’s capital during the meeting, please make sure you take a few minutes to visit us on-site — we want to get to know you and meet the people who make this all possible. We look forward to speaking with you about the practical steps we can all take to promote and advance women’s health and education. Your feedback is important to us, and we want to hear it!

The Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health is also excited to announce to you all of its plans for the rest of the year. To make these initiatives successful, we not only rely on your monetary support, but we also require your help and participation.

Please contact Chantal Sarkisian (csarkisian@cfwh.org) if you would like more information on the initiatives mentioned above. The CFWH is also offering two social activities during the meeting:
