The purpose of this fellowship is to provide financial support to nurse or midwife SOGC members to enable them to meet specific learning needs and those of their community. This clinical professional development opportunity may involve, but is not restricted to, the acquisition of technical knowledge or skills in the area of obstetrics/gynaecology and/or sexual and reproductive health.
Funding is provided by the Foundation for the Promotion of Reproductive and Sexual Health (FPRSH) whose mission is to promote and support educational initiatives in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
Amount of award
Recipients will be awarded $3,000 for their fellowship. In addition, $1,000 will be awarded to the host institution providing the traineeship to assist in covering office expenses. Grant recipients will be recognized at the Annual Clinical Meeting’s Awards Ceremony.
Time and location of tenure
The traineeship is to be provided in Canada. The Award Committee may consider an alternative location if the training sought is not available anywhere in Canada. The update must take place during the 18 months following the awarding of the fellowship.

Bayer HealthCare, Janssen-Ortho, Organon Canada Inc., and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Eligibility
Applicant must be a nurse or midwife SOGC member in good standing at the time of application.
Applicants must indicate if they are receiving additional subsidies or grants for the intended traineeship.
The learning activity is to take the form of a short period (4 to 8 weeks) of clinical update.
Procedures for application
An application shall include the following documents:
The application form duly completed and signed.
A description of the topic of study, the learning objectives, the requested training and its duration, and the resulting benefits to you and your community.
A letter of support from the Department Head where the training is to be undertaken, including the delivery format and the name of a supervisor.

Selection
The selection committee is composed of members of the Nurse and Midwife Advisory Committees. Submissions are evaluated on the overall merit of the traineeship and the benefits to the applicant and their community.
Fellowship adjudication
The fellowship will be issued in two instalments, the first one upon adjudication and the second upon receipt of a final report, which is a detailed account of your fellowship.
